The UN refugee company on Tuesday welcomed a call by US President Joe Biden to confess as much as 62,500 refugees this 12 months, which it hoped would encourage different nations to resettle extra individuals fleeing battle or persecution.

Biden stated on Monday he had resurrected a plan to lift refugee admissions this 12 months after drawing a wave of criticism from supporters for initially protecting the refugee cap at a traditionally low stage of 15,000, set by his predecessor Donald Trump.
