When Captain Preeti Chowdhary on Tuesday led the upgraded Schilika weapon system on hallowed Rajpath, it was a second of a number of celebrations for the Indian Army. This was the primary time Schilika acquired featured on the Republic Day Parade. And Captain Preeti Chowdhary was the one girl Army officer to guide a contingent this 12 months.

The upgraded Schilika can observe and shoot enemy targets as much as 2 kilometres on the bottom and about 2.5 kilometres within the air.

Interestingly, Captain Preeti was a part of the National Cadet Corps and had taken half within the Republic Day Parade of 2016 as an NCC cadet.

“I received this opportunity because it is my regiment’s equipment, not due to my gender,” she has stated on being the one girl contingent commander from the Indian Army.
