The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) wrote to the varsity’s performing vice-chancellor PC Joshi demanding suspension of courses and cancellation of exams since many college students and academics have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

The varsity on Thursday had stated it can take inventory of the examination schedule, amid calls for from college students asking for exams to be deferred in view of spiking COVID-19 instances within the nation.

The college is slated to carry on-line exams for remaining yr undergraduate and postgraduate college students between May and June.

“The second wave of the pandemic has wreaked havoc in the lives of all sections of the university community. The loss of so many lives is tragic and is causing physical and psychological trauma to all,” the letter stated.

Students, academics and karmacharis (employees) are unable to deal with the unfold of COVID-19 and the impact it’s having on each particular person life, it stated, including that it’s incumbent upon the college administration to be delicate to the trauma throughout and take steps to alleviate the stress within the lives of individuals.

Many heads of Departments have already written to the Dean, Examinations requesting that the exams for remaining yr/ semester college students be postponed in view of the rising an infection amongst college students and academics.

“Hence, we request you to think about cancelling examinations for all college students and resolve upon various means to guage college students. Deadlines for submission of Internal Assessment should be prolonged,” they stated.
