In the second assembly of autorickshaw and taxi unions with the transport process drive through video-conferencing on Wednesday, unions urged the state authorities to permit autorickshaws and taxis to hold common passengers.
AL Quadros, chief of the town’s largest taximen’s union — Mumbai Taximen’s Union, represented different taxi and autorickshaw unions. Quadros requested the state authorities to supply monetary aid to taxi and autorickshaw drivers together with permitting extra passengers.
“It has been an extremely difficult time for taxi and autorickshaw drivers in the state. Business has been completely down, and allowing only essential passengers has made it even more difficult for us. We have asked the government to allow us to carry normal passengers. We have also sought financial aid of ₹10,000 per month to the drivers during the lockdown,” he stated.
Autorickshaw and taxi unions have additionally requested for a rise in fare. Taxi unions have requested to extend minimal fare from ₹22 to ₹25 and the identical for autorickshaws from ₹18 to ₹22.
Auto unions additionally urged the state to launch seized autos and to cancel e-challans throughout lockdown together with waiver of the curiosity of loans taken by autorickshaw drivers in Maharashtra.
