Two individuals had been killed and one suffered accidents when unidentified miscreants fired on villagers celebrating Busu Dima pageant in Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Wednesday night time.
According to the police, the incident occurred round 11:30 pm when a number of photographs had been fired at residents of Kharnaidisa village, almost 45 km from Diphu, the district headquarters. “The villagers were having a community feast as part of Busu Dima festivities on Wednesday night when they heard the shots. Two people died in the incident and another sustained injuries,” Debajit Deori, superintendent of police, Karbi Anglong, mentioned.
Busu Dima is widely known by the Dimasa tribe when the newly harvested rice is consumed and the neighborhood’s conventional garments, sports activities, ethnic meals and drinks are showcased.
The deceased have been recognized as A Maibongsa (60) and Amit Nunisa (42). The injured Ashit Phonglosa (25), who had a bullet damage on his left hand, is acknowledged to be secure.
Police suspect the miscreants could have reached the incident website on foot as it’s not linked by street. A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
